About Us
Our experienced and kind team is passionate about providing outstanding veterinary care. Core values of compassion, education, and integrity guide our daily work, and we foster a positive and collaborative environment. We are proud to be locally owned without any corporate involvement, focusing our efforts on the care of our community.
We host hands-on visits for Girl Scouts and daycares, offer scholarships to veterinary students, and advise student clubs. We have also sponsored Free Day at the Johnson County Museum, the Enchanted Forest, and the Lenexa Moonlight Bike Ride.
Dr. McAllister purchased Parkway Animal Hospital in 1993 and he and Dr. Kalmar enjoyed watching multiple generations of families raise their pets. Dr. Thomas purchased the hospital in 2023. Ironically, Dr. Thomas and Dr. McAllister both started their careers at the same clinic in Brookside.
Dr. McAllister and Liesl imparted their wisdom and good humor on the team for a long and smooth transition before retiring, leaving their legacy in the kind hands of Dr. Thomas and Dr. Soga. Dr. Gottstein joined the practice, and Dr. Soga became a professor at Oklahoma State's vet school.
We have an extensive in-house laboratory and negotiate excellent pricing with outside laboratories so our patients recieve the best, whether they need well-pet screening, dentistry, or care during an illness. Because we bring additional specialists on-site, owners can address more complex cases from the comfort of our general practice.
Dr. Thomas, Dr. Gottstein, and the entire team are excited to continue Parkway’s legacy of compassionate veterinary care. We enjoy educating owners almost as much as we enjoy educating students! It’s been a joy to teach vet students, vet tech students, and aspiring professionals during their school breaks. Please email us if you want to learn more about this exciting field.
